The NGO Academy offers capacity building programmes with a strong focus on building and strengthening a network of CSO practitioners in Central and South-Eastern Europe. The NGO Academy network consists of its partners, the faculty and most importantly, its members.
Members
The members of the NGO Academy are the heart and soul of the programme. More than 560 organizations from 14 countries share their knowledge and learn from the faculty but most importantly from each other. Our members are active in 14 countries including Austria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

Academic partner

The Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) is the largest university focusing on business and economics in Europe and, in terms of student body, one of the largest universities in Austria. It has been ranked as one of the best business schools in Europe and received Triple accreditation from EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA.
The Social Entrepreneurship Center is an organisational unit of WU Vienna and combines research and practice on social entrepreneurship, civil society and social innovation. Its main activities comprise basic and applied research, program evaluations, capacity building, training and consulting.

“la Caixa” Foundation support initiatives that contribute to substantially improve living conditions amongst the most vulnerable populations in developing countries. In order to increase its impact, “la Caixa” Foundation works with leading players in the field of international development, such as European Foundations, International Organizations and the United Nations Organizations. “la Caixa” Foundation also works to foster the professionalization of the Civil Society organizations through training courses aimed for managers, technicians and volunteers of NGOs with the collaboration of the academic sector.

Faculty
The faculty of the NGO Academy comprises around 200 professionals who have been involved in at least one of the programmes. They come from different backgrounds, like academia, the non-profit and for-profit sectors, and engage in the programmes by taking various roles, such as lecturers, guest speakers, and coaches. This way they challenge participants with different perspectives and support them in their learning progresses.
The Regional Programme is a topic-centred programme, focusing on strengthening management competencies of non-profit managers and staff members, taking into consideration their local context and needs for further development. Throughout the semester, independent webinars, physical workshops and online coaching experiences, lasting usually between one and four days, are provided to the NGO Academy Network in English, German, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Romanian, Czech and Hungarian language. These elective offers are taking place in a variety of locations in Central and Eastern Europe and online.
